The Yard

The history of the Yard dates back to 1962, when its construction started and its operation commenced in October 1969. Since then, it has expanded considerably becoming one of the major shipyards in the Mediterranean. The new management since 1997 , implemented successfully an extensive investment program, that has enabled “Elefsis Shipyards” to keep pace with developments in the new building technology and to claim a leading role in the shipbuilding industry.  Located in Elefsis Bay at Lat.38o 02’ N Long.023o 33’E approximately 10 nautical miles from the anchorage of Piraeus can provide all kind of shipyard services. In an area of 250 th sq. m, of which 56 th sq.m is under cover, offers construction, repair and modification facilities.

Quality Management

Quality Management Assurance & Control  The  shipyard’s  Quality  Management  System  is c ertified  by LRS  confirming  compliance  with  ISO  9001 : 2008   The Yard  as a naval contactor operates under procedures required by the Nato guide lines and it is ISPS code certified.

Enviromental Protection

The protection of the environment is a high priority and the Yard’s Management have implemented a strict policy of environmental and sea pollution control to ensure that all Yard’s operations are conducted in an incident-free environment. The Yard is currently being certified for ISO 14001:2004 and it is expected that full certification will be granted within 2010. The Yard employ their own Environmental Engineer.

Investment Plans

In 1997 a broad investment program commenced.  One scale was aimed at upgrading existing facilities,  while one other was focused at expanding the  capabilities and introducing new technologies. The new technologies where mainly aimed at the Naval  Programs.  From 1997 more than 50 mil euro has been invested in new facilities.
